Consumers and Time-of-Use Tariffs

This research examines the current success of plans such as “free nights and weekends” and “EZ-3” in expanding consumer awareness and adoption of TOU (time-of-use) programs. Survey data identify the successful strategies in communicating the benefits of variable rate benefits and how to leverage this information to influence other energy activities and drive integration between energy and the smart home.
