Mark has a Bachelors Degree in Public Health and a minor in Sociology from BYU’s School of Public Health Sciences. Mark went on to receive a Masters Degree in Public Administration with an Information Technology emphasis from BYU’s Marriott Business School. Mark started his career working for PriceWaterHouseCoopers Health Care Consulting practice in Houston, TX and later transferred to their Los Angeles, CA office. After working in the Corporate world for 8 years consulting hospitals and skilled nursing facility chains across the nation, Mark realized there was a need for in home care services after someone gets discharged from a facility. 
In 2007, Mark and his wife Kristy (a former medical sales rep) launched their very own home care business in Irvine, Southern California and provided non-medical in home care services to the elderly in Orange County and South Los Angeles County. While operating their home care business, Mark and Kristy realized that many families didn’t know what options were available to them when they were getting discharged from a facility and needed assistance with activities of daily living. 
In 2013, Mark and Kristy launched Care Planning Institute, Inc (CPI) to help families learn about the care options available to them after discharge and also find funds to pay for their care. One of the specialty programs that CPI is proud to provide is their in house Accredited Veterans Benefits Group that can help elderly Veterans and their spouses get funds to pay for home care from the VA. CPI works with families nationwide to help them apply for this VA Benefit without ever leaving their home and at no cost to the elderly Veteran or their spouse. 
Mark is also a Certified Senior Care Manager and active member of the American Geriatrics Society and the Gerontological Society of America. Mark regularly appears as a senior care industry expert guest on national radio shows through which he helps families across North America understand the care options available for their aging parents and the avenues to pay for such care.
