Saquib Rahim, MD, is Chief Medical Officer and Vice President of Clinical Strategy within Consumer Health and Services at Aetna. The Consumer Health and Services organization is responsible for helping Aetna members achieve their best health and for fostering innovative collaborations with health care providers to improve the overall quality, cost and experience for Aetna members. Dr. Rahim leads efforts focused on health care technology for the Aetna Digital team.

Dr. Rahim is also Board Certified in Internal Medicine and an attending physician. Prior to joining Aetna, he was Director of Integrated Health at Quartet and Chief Medical Officer at CipherHealth - both New York-based health care technology companies. He has extensive experience in health care from both clinical and business perspectives, having practiced and/or consulted in more than 20 different health systems since medical school. Dr. Rahim is passionate about health care innovation and improving care delivery through a combination of high-value technology and effective services.

Dr. Rahim graduated summa cum laude from Northwestern University with a bachelor’s degree in Political Science. He earned his medical degree from Northwestern University with honors in Internal Medicine and participated as a member of the combined seven-year BA/MD program. Dr. Rahim completed his master’s degree from Harvard Business School (HBS) where he co-authored an HBS teaching case with Professor Michael Porter on outcomes measurement in health care.

Vidya Raman-Tangella Vidya Raman-Tangella, Senior Vice President, and Head, UHC Innovation Center of Excellence, UnitedHealth Group

Dr. Vidya Raman-Tangella serves as the head of the UnitedHealthcare Innovation Center of Excellence. Vidya and her team design, develop and scale breakthrough innovations that help address unmet health needs through the use of cutting-edge concepts and technology, including mobile apps and integrated health and wellness programs.  
Vidya is a clinician by training and has more than 20 years of experience in the health care field. Prior to her role at UnitedHealthcare, she held a senior management position at Johnson & Johnson, where she led the design of integrated and tailored health and wellness solutions for employers and health plans. In addition, Vidya helped oversee the company’s start-up organization, providing expertise about strategic partnerships and enterprise integration.   
An experienced ‘practical innovator’, Vidya has spoken at numerous health care and technology conferences, including the International Consumer Electronics Show (CES), the Cleveland Clinic Innovation Summit, the Healthcare Businesswomen’s Association Conference (HBA), the Employer Healthcare Congress, and the “Unleashing Innovation Summit.”.  She is a frequent speaker at internal forums and events at United Health Group. Vidya was recognized as a ‘Woman Worth Watching’ in 2016, and as a Top 40 HealthCare Transformers in 2017. She is also the recipient of the Tech innovator Award.
Vidya holds a bachelor’s of medicine degree and a bachelor’s of surgery degree from Osmania University in Hyderabad, India, and she earned a master’s of health administration from Cornell University in New York.  
Vidya lives in New Jersey with her husband, two children, and their family pet.

As Sharecare’s senior vice president of actuarial consulting and business development, Dale Rayman works closely with Sharecare’s clients to help them measure and gain a deeper understanding of their populations’ outcomes and performance. Through the use of advanced data analysis, Dale also helps customers maximize and demonstrate a positive return on their investment in Sharecare’s messaging, motivation, management and measurement platform. Previously director of analytics and chief actuary at Zipongo, a digital nutrition platform, Dale spent 27 years at Willis Towers Watson where he held a variety of roles, including health and group benefits senior consultant, and chief actuary for the company’s private exchange for active employees.

Chanin Wendling Chanin Wendling, AVP, Informatics, Geisinger Health System

Chanin Wendling has developed key strategies that leverage mobile and portal technologies to drive digital patient engagement and facilitate the provider's ability to deliver quality patient care. Her mobile technology projects include smartphones for providers for secure text messaging and EMR access, text message appointment reminders and diabetes management, iPads to collect patient data and drive patient engagement, mobile apps for Colonoscopy and Lumbar Spine surgery, eBooks and patient engagement packages through iTunes University. Her portal projects have included expanding patient access to clinical data, using the portal as a conduit to gather important patient data for areas such as medication reconciliation, depression screening and asthma management, using the portal to help patients prep for a visit so that exam room time can be focused, and providing a portal for referring providers to stay connected to their patients' care at Geisinger. Her current efforts focus on the ability to deliver personalized healthcare, tailoring care based on the patient’s communication preferences, behaviors and motivations.


Sam Adams Sam Adams, IBM Distinguished Engineer, Master Inventor, Technical Lead for Global Aging Initiative, IBM

Currently co-leading the Aging Strategic Initiative in IBM Research, Sam Adams was elected to the IBM Academy of Technology in 1995, and in 1996 appointed as one of IBM's first Distinguished Engineers. After helping to found the first Object Technology Practice in the IBM Consulting Group, he led a study on Self Configuring Systems that foreshadowed IBM's Autonomic Computing initiative. Sam co-authored IBM's XML Technical Strategy, focusing on machine-to-machine communication which became the core of IBM's Web Services strategy, coining the term "Service Oriented Architecture" and defining the Publish-Find-Bind triangle model for SOA in 1998. In 2000, Mr. Adams led the Joshua Blue project, resulting in a number of breakthroughs in the field of Artificial General Intelligence, including the Superstition and Forgetfulness model for autonomous learning. Later, Sam developed the first internet mash-up technologies at IBM and led IBM's Research's Enterprise 2.0 Initiative. In 2013 he served as CTO for Contextual Computing in IBM Research, leading the exploration of peta-scale graph-based analytics and programming systems across IBM Research's global labs. Over the last 5 years he has helped drive a number of Global Technology Outlook topics in IBM Research, each of which has had a profound impact on IBM's strategic direction. Today, Sam is applying Cognitive Computing to eldercare, addressing the cross-industry impact of the global Aging Boom. 

Andrew Altorfer Andrew Altorfer, CEO, CirrusMD

Andrew has led CirrusMD since its founding, helping to grow the business into the leading virtual care platform for value-based care. Along the way, CirrusMD has completed three successful funding rounds and expanded access to care to nearly one million people. Prior to co-founding CirrusMD, Andrew worked as an advisor and investment banker to early and growth-stage tech companies giving him the market knowledge and experience needed to lead the execution of our vision. Most recently, Andrew was a VP with Q Advisors, a boutique technology investment bank. Previously, Andrew was with Citigroup and Goldman Sachs. As chief operating officer (COO) of Alive Sciences, Darlene Arbeit guides the innovative Sarasota company dedicated to helping individuals, families, and healthcare organizations identify warning signs of health problems, manage chronic conditions, and enhance personal wellbeing. Through partnerships with health technology developers and care providers, Alive Sciences is deploying the Rothman Index (Ri), a patented, easy-to-understand, early-warning system, outside the hospital setting to support individual wellness and residential care programs, as well as optimizing clinical trials and research. At Alive Sciences, Arbeit focuses on the importance of taking a proactive approach to wellness and health care using tools like mobile devices and the Rothman Index, which empowers individuals by providing an easily understood health score for monitoring changes in conditions. Prior to joining Alive Sciences in 2014, Arbeit was chief executive officer (CEO) for The Jewish Housing Council with management responsibility for its retirement community with facilities including: Kobernick House, a 191-unit independent living community; Anchin Pavilion a 70-bed assisted living facility; the Fannie Green Memory Care Unit; and the 50-bed Benderson Family Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Under her leadership from 1997 to 2014, the community has made major advances including a successful transfer of management from outside consulting company to in-house control and development of a certified outpatient rehabilitation facility. The Jewish Housing Council also became the first organization outside a hospital to employ the PeraHealth Index to monitor resident care more effectively. Arbeit has more than 30 years of experience in the geriatric and health care fields and maintains numerous professional credentials. She served as a member of the Assisted Living Facility Policy Committee, State of Florida Agency for Health Care Administration; and was appointed by Governor Scott to the Assisted Living Workgroup. She also serves on the executive board of Leading Age Florida. Arbeit earned her bachelor's degree in education at the University of New Orleans, and a certification in health systems management from Tulane University's School of Public Health. She was a teacher for special needs children before entering the long-term care industry.

John has pursued a wide range of activities in health and wellness throughout his career. Initially he practiced primary care, preventive medicine, critical care, trauma and helicopter medicine, and was one of the founders of the hyperbaric medicine program at UCSD. He practiced for five years as an ICU Intensivist and was director of critical care, pharmacy and therapeutics, quality and utilization at various times during his tenure at Scripps, prior to continuing his clinical practice at Kaiser Permanente.

He has dedicated his recent career to transforming healthcare through Health Information Technology and health policy at both state and federal levels.

He designed and implemented his first EHR in 1984 and has designed or implemented six additional EHRs since that time. He chairs both regional and national IT investment portfolios for Kaiser Permanente, and is an active participant on multiple innovation boards, and mentors hundreds of startups in digital health.

His team led the first and largest deployment of KP HealthConnect, the largest private health record deployment in the nation. That program was completed 1 year ahead of schedule and $267million under budget. He continues to lead scores of innovation projects throughout Kaiser Permanente, ranging from mobile healthcare apps, social analytics and interventions, telemedicine, big data analytics, and the behavioral economics of change. He is currently launching a project to transform how complex data sets, including genomic, microbiomics, exposomics, socialomics and phenomics, and streaming wearable sensor data (and healthcare IOT) can be transformed through visualization into intuitive representations that support shared decision making and better activation of people with their own health journeys.

He has designed a topologic and heuristic strategy for managing the avalanche of data associated with pervasive sensing, the IOT, and Big Data in general.

His primary goal is to harvest the exponential growth of knowledge about health and use it to help individuals participate more directly in improving their own health and resilience and at the same time engage their communities in broader initiatives around health promotion for all members of the community. At the individual level, he is dedicated to helping restore the healing and caring aspects of how caregivers motivate and coordinate the care of every individual they treat. John also participates in the Framework For Humanity and other groups that are addressing the issues surrounding social equity in the digital era, both inside and outside of healthcare.

He summarizes his passion with two approaches “using modern technology to restore ancient wisdom” and creating a “Behavioral Symphony of Wellness” to motivate individuals along their personal journeys to health, wellness, happiness and resilience.

Sherrie Petersen joined the Good Samaritan Society in September 2009. She has been part of LivingWell@Home work since December of 2010 when she joined the program as the Innovation Manager overseeing the research project. This involved growing and maintaining the relationship with the principle investigator in addition to overseeing the data collection and transmission for the 1,586 consented research participants. In July of 2013, she became the director of LivingWell@Home and was charged to see the research project to completion and lead the development of LivingWell@Home from a research project to a sustainable business line for the Society.

She had done numerous presentations at the national level promoting   the benefit of remote patient monitoring and the alignment with the Triple Aim and Healthcare Reform. Most recently she has presented at the American Telehealth Association conference held in Orlando, FL in April; the Senior Living 100 Conference in Naples, FL in March, in addition to the Coordinated Care Conference in Atlanta, GA this past January.

Prior to joining the Society, Sherrie worked in the healthcare community for 15 years in a variety of roles as a medical social worker and program manager.
